I am looking for a 3" test pipe or high flow cat to go with an APEXi N1 catback and Megan Down pipe. I have not purchased the Megan down pipe yet but I like the price! Anyway, the Megan test pipe is 2.25 in and out. I prefer the test pipe because it is cheaper, but i want it to be 3".

I was thinking about getting the Road Race engineering 3" DP and test pipe but it will be almost $100 more. Any suggestions? I know I can get it fabricated but I preper to purchase and bolt on if possible.

FYI- I have the Megan test pipe on a 98 GS and I am passing the emissions test in OH. So far it has been four years this way. The test pipe looks like a resonator so no one asks about it becuase they assume it is a catalytic converter. I did notice higher levels of emmisions on the sniff test, but I am still under the threshold.

I thought the same but Mike from ETS said that it does not eliminate the cat... Anyone know for sure?

Megan Racing is like RRE's long downpipe - they eliminate the cat. If you don't need a cat in your state, just get a long downpipe. If you plan to swap between cat and test pipe, you'd be better off with RRE's short downpipe.

Unfortunately we do have emissions testing in OH... How much harder would it be to change the one pipe versus the entire DP at emissions time? I can't imagine it would matter to much. Either way it is a few bolts and some hangers.

Thanks. Sounds good... Does any one know if the megan DP will match with the apex cat back or should i go with the RRE DP. I want to minimize bottle necks in exhaust flow as much as possible.

I have not found it for the 99... I have seen it for the DSMs up to I believe 95... Something like that.

At this point I am more concerned with whether this setup will work for me or do I go with the RRE...

the megan downpipe i posted above will bolt directly to the cat-back portion of your apex exhaust. it includes new bolts and gaskets. you will need nothing else.. except maybe a can of rust remover for those stubborn rusty exhaust bolts.

You could also keep your stock downpipe for emissions purposes and swap it if you have annual testings.

Especially if you encounter the rust demons from hell.
