brakes failed on me!

i'm nto sure what the problem is but under slightly hard braking my brake light comes on on the dash board, the one that usually only turns on if you pull hte parking brake. my car is tring ot tell me something but i'm not sure what. it just passed a safety inspection last week where they check the pads. no bad noises are comming from my brakes. could it be low on fluid or what?

Sounds like you're low on brake fluid. Check the master cylinder.

Like the others said you are just low on fluid. Its most likely just because the fluid is being used to take up the extra space that is left over in the calipers since the pads arent as thick as they used to be and the piston sticks out a little more than it used to.

Might as well bleed the system while you're at it.

^^^^ <-- Ahh.. beat me to it. Bleed the system, top off the fluid. Check for leaks.

ok one quick question, what does the eclipse come with stock dot3,4,or5 i don't want to put the wrong stuff in.

Use DOT 4. You're just low, you won't have to bleed anything.
