sp last night when i got my car beck from the mitsu dealer, i was cleaning it up, checkin what i need to do. The fan wont come on when it should. and theres only one fan, the one by the intake pipe. So i know i gotta hook up a fan. Theres a coolant leak under the TB, the IAC plate on the bottom. Some other easy stuff, thermostat, n what not. But i took apart the dash to find a hotsync cable, one you'd hook up to a laptop for DSMLink(it was old n crappy though) and the connector for the air control knob on the center dash, had one wire spliced into, that ran to the fuse box, but connected to nothing. And the flip up headlight switch had one wire tapped, but it went to nothing. I dont know what all that was about, but i cut it all out. Any ideas why they did this? and are the headlights supposed to come on when they flip up? or am i just dumb:p

That is so ironically funny I had to change my undies...

That button on the left side only puts the lights up, not turns them on.

As far as all the crazy wiring, who knows?

If the car does not have AC then the second fan is not needed, you could just leave it out.

LOL. i know the button puts them up, sorry i didnt specify. And the one fan thats in there now doesnt even come on. So im just gonna wire it up to a switch in the cabin. LOL, that wiring had me really confused, but the fan inside doesnt work or anything, so i didnt know if that wiring had anything to do with it.

If your blower motor is not working and somebody was in there messing with wires then who knows what you are gonna have to re-wire. I would attempt to hook that main fan back up to the ECU, it is much more convenient for the ECU to control it than for you to have to remember to turn it on. I know I would forget one day and BOOM! there goes a lot of money into the pooper.

LOL, yeah, but for some reason the ecu wont turn it on until the car is really hot. Im pretty good at remembering it, i did it to my 1.8L eclipse. But it needs a new radiator and thermostat , but i think ill check the heater core and blower too.

My guess as to that tapped wire off the popup switch would be to steal power for aftermarket gauges; IIRC, the buttons' illumination are on the gauge dimmer rheostat. No idea why they wouldn't tap directly off the dimmer itself, unless there's signs of a former A-pillar pod (closer tap point). Same with the HVAC wire for center vent/radio bezel mounted gauges. Check with a meter and see if they're hot with the headlights on.

The 'hotsync'/'DSMLink' cable may just be a datalogger... they look the same, and are functionally similar. If you have a lappy, load up Tunerstein and give it a go, see if you get a read. If so, just saved $40 on an ODBI logger cable. And if it isn't obvious, pull out and open up your ECU. Previous owner might have left you a VERY shiny present, for all you know at the moment. :D

the ecu is a brand new e-prom from the dealer, but i wish it came w/ dsmlink or something. There were wires running to the plug where you tap for an A/F gauge and they were all directed towards the apillar, which wasnt even there, it was in the trunk. but the wires probably were there for gauges.
