Hey just wanted to put this in quick. I bought a T3/T4 turbo from a company on Ebay less than a year ago. When I bought it they told me it came with a one year warranty.[ Seemed to good to be true.] Well the turbo failed and now the company isn't on Ebay anymore, but they are a real company. I contacted them and told them the problem and guess what. They are sending me a new turbo. Cool huh. The reason for this thread is to tell some others about emotorusa.com. They are good people and they offer a one year warranty just like some of the big turbo companies. If you are in search of a cheaper turbo check them out. Thats all I have to say. Thanks:thumb:

I will pass. I'd rather spend the extra buck on a reputable company.

I would much rather have a Turbonetics turbo, but unfortunately I have been out of work for over a year and a haly with a seriuos back injury from a previous surgery. So I really can't afford one right now. But I do agree on the You get what you pay for philosophy. The only reason I popped this on the site was because how many lower end companies offer a one year replacement warranty on their turbos.

A turbo is about the last thing i would cheep out on, if it goes it puts your engine at risk, i would much rather buy something proven.

Is the turbo a Master Power turbo? They're actually a really good turbo company from Brazil, and apparently they sold a bunch of their turbos to SSautochrome a while back. If you order from SSautochrome on Ebay, you might get a real Master Power, a fake MP, a fake turbo with MP housings, or just a straight up SSauto china turbo. You want to play russian roullette? Go ahead.

Anyways, Master Power is really popular with the turbo domestic guys, and a ton of people on turbomustangs.com run them. There are a few people who are REAL dealers of Master Power, and can hook you up if you want a turbo from them. I would NOT buy a turbo from ebay though.

Thanks for the good information, however your post would be alot more helpful if you could provide a current vendor of these "Master Power" turbos. Also, How positive are you about SSautoChrome selling these turbos, and do you know if they still are.

How does it put the engine at risk? Worst case you burn some oil eve if it flies apart the I/C will catch the pieces.

The risk is that the bearing material that is bathed in engine oil becomes thousands of little shards that then drain back into the oil pan to be picked up by the oil pump and pumped through the filter, until the filter is full -- then all those pieces start getting circulated through the engine -- and they start tearing apart crank bearings, rod bearings, camshafts, etc...

I at one point had an xs power turbo.....it failed after 6 months. Sent them pictures, and 2 weeks later had a new turbo sitting on my door step. They didn't even want the old one back. I have since bought a garrett gt35r, an sold the other turbo....it is still running just fine.

Totally , you cant comparing GARRETT turbo with Xs Power turbo . plus the GT35R is very nice and popular turbocharger in the world .

good luck

I had a xs power evo III 16g on my winter beater laser last winter running 20psi all day long. It was brand new when I bought the car and it ran strong all winter and then I parted out the car after the timing belt broke and I sold the turbo and last I heard it's still running strong.

There are tons of people that have bought Master Power (or turbos labeled Master Power) from SSauto on Ebay. I wouldn't ever count on getting a decent turbo from them though, just go with MP from a real dealer.

I know there are a couple on Turbomustangs.com, I'll see if I can look any up. "ddv005" Appears to be an authorized dealer, http://www.miketurboinc.com is his website.

From the turbomusangs board:

Dont know if you know this or what it is but masterpower is a iso9000 company which is pretty hard to recieve that certification and then the "certifiers" come pay you a visit either once every six months or twelve months to make sure the quality is where it should be and that you are doing thinigs you say you are.

I'm not trying to ride Master Power's nuts, but they look like a great turbo company that just isn't too well known in the US. Hell, there was a time when most of the people on this board didn't know who Holset was. I'm willing to run one, and I'll probably do a bolt-on HX40 on this 7 bolt, and step up to a MP T70 on the next engine. Who knows...

I actually looked up Master Power also. Their turbos don't sell at Ebay prices though.

Is there anyone running a SSauto turbo, or any other T3/T4 Ebay turbos?

Sorry to be a "thread jacker", but I'm sure alot of people would benefit from this information. Seems like the style to go with for "cheap Ebay turbos" is the 16g.

So are you going to put in the turbo back into your car? I hope not..Just go back to stock t-25 or 14b whatever you have until you have enough for a decent turbo. Put the turbo up in your room as display or something. Looks like those are the only things they're good for. No offense. ;)

I have an ssac T4/T70 and its still holding up.

How long have you had it? How much boost are you running?

What does it sound like? :sneaky:

Keep the good information coming, maybe this will become a bible thread for those who want info on Ebay turbos.

So you're saying a 14b isn't a decent turbo?
