My question is why is it not mounted? Was it removed for some reason and you couldn't remember where it went back? I'm just curious.

Bought a 91 shell and completely stripped it down and removed everything from the engine bay and couldn't recall what it was. But it will be put back on and mounted when everything is put back together no worries, thanks again guys.

make sure that you rebuild that or put a new one on -- especially if you are running a HD pressure plate -- they are known to go out -- and go out faster with extra pressure

What is involved in rebuilding this?

Cheap kit from your local auto parts store, consists of a new spring and o-ring. Pull off the boot, remove the piston, replace the o-ring and spring. SUPER simple. Good luck.
