Boost issue?

So right now my car is completely 90 tsi awd. The thing i notice is i'll hit 10psi and then about a few hundred rpm later it drops to 8 psi.Sometimes it will stay at 10psi though it the car pulls to so much better. What could be causing this? Im considering putting a boost controller in tmrw and trying to adjust to stay at 10psi. Then i got to thinking what if i through my walbro 255 in and turn it up to like 12 or 14 psi would it be safe?

1990 thats old, like my car . Anyhow, you should check all the intercooler hose, because they might be dieing from old age. a boost leak down test is in order.

+1 on a boost leak test. check all the i/c piping, throttle body, injector o rings and anywhere else that air can escape out of

You check the injectors durring a boost leak test....
I giess I need to find the correct path for a boost leak test.
