Electric Oil Pressure Gauge!!!

Ok guys, I've been searching and I found no thread or link or ANYTHING about hooking up an Electric Oil Pressure Gauge! I know that there are detailed instructions on how to install a BOOST gauge but none for Electric Oil Pressure gauges.

While I was searching, I got a gist of the things I am supposed to hook up on the back of my AUTOMETER O.P.G like S=sender GRD=Ground, I=Ignition and the sending unit.

I know how to hook up the lighting so, HERE'S MY QUESTION; Underneath my car where the oil filter housing is, I see two units with connectors, the idiot light sending Unit and the OEM Sending unit. With my Autometer Sending unit, do I get my wrench and take off the OEM S. Unit and thread on the Autometer S. unit then run an 18 gauge wire through the firewall and connected to the back of the gauge where it says S=sender of the gauge then hook up the ignition to the cigarette lighter and ground to the body and then the lights?

Ask me if that is right because I DON'T KNOW and what do I do with the connector that was previously on the stock sending unit? Is that for the stock Oil Pressure gauge on the cluster? If so, then do I tap the stock connector with the after market wire line? Let me know guys.

Simple search and many threads came out regarding this issue. Here some more just to rub it in jk

The links below should be more than enough.

Mechanical oil pressure gauge installation [Merged 1-8]
electric oil pressure gauge install [Merged 7-7] installation hookup wiring
Autometer c2 electric oil pressure gauge?
Oil Pressure Gauge ELECTRICAL
Where is the oil pressure sender?

I plan to install mine on my other GSX on my next oil change, ask me in a month if you still have problems, I'm local too.

But it looks like you already know what you should do based on how you described how to install it.

You can do what you described and remove the stock sending unit, its a good source as you will see in the threads I provided above. And just leave the stock sending unit wire hanging, disconnected. Obviously the stock oil pressure gauge on the cluster will no longer work. Or you can keep all that intact, find another good pressure source and continue to do what you already stated. This way both gauges will be working.

bro, was finding the right exhaust, and installing an oil pressure guage so difficult that you gave up on your car all together and decided to sell it?

BTW, you might want to NOT use, fram oil filters, and iridium spark plugs. Especially those spark plugs.

To answer your question with less confusion. Remove the oem oil pressure sending unit and put it there. Run the 18G wire threw the driverside fender well. If you remove the plastic shrowding under the dender. You will see where the factory wire lume is. You can run your wire with it. Get creative is worked out awsome in my car. I think useing the exsisting wire is alot more difficult. Then just running your own. Plus your going to get a beture signal. Because there are less splices in the wire causeing more resistance.

Oh i wouldn't hook up the ignition wire to the cigaret lighter. Depending on what your useing it for i would wont to keep it near stock so when you hook up your powerhoging radar detecter it doesn't pop the fuse.
I would splice it in to one of the ignition wires on the the key.

you have two wires to chose from
im put this picture in so you can see what im talking about. Insted of cutting the ignition wire like in the diagram your just going to splice onto it. You can also use the accessory wire as well
