Is a 1991 Mitsubishi mirage considered a DSM? I'm leaning no, but don't actually know if it is.

In a word....NO. The only "TRUE" DSM's are 90-93 Talons, Eclipses and Lasers (oh, and the Galant VR-4's, too!). DSM was actually disbanded in 1993, thus making the 1994's the last "true" DSM's. This can be argued forever, but most of us just accept the 90-99 Talon/Eclipse/Laser lineup the true DSM's, with the '90-92(?) Galant VR-4 having it's own little niche in the DSM family.

From this site's home page:
"DSM (Diamond Star Motors; 1990-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipses, Eagle Talons, and Plymouth Lasers)"

That's not Cirrus, Avenger, Vista vans and whatever else also has a big DSM placard on the firewall and on the door jamb VIN plate. And although Diamond Star Motors was no more when the 2Gs were being built, they are DSMs. Because we say so.
