Hey my cousin just bought a 1g AWD turbo talon. We are in the process of tuning it and recently replaced the 02 censor. When we replaced the 02 censor it set off a trouble code. We have the palm pilot hooked up to the diagnostics port and have the mitsubishi motors computer diagnostics program on the palm pilot and we are trying to reset the trouble code and can not figure out how. If anyone can tell me how it would be appreciated.

Don't you just unhook the battery and let the car drain for like.. 20-30 minutes? Someone slap me if that's wrong but I think you can do it that way.
 
Or on a 1G, you just pull the lower-right fuse in the in-cabin fusebox and let the car sit for a minute or five. Loses all your radio settings, and resets the ECU. Can disconnect the battery, but that fuse is a lot easier and faster.
 
Yeah im sure i could do it that way but that is more of a pain then figuring out how to do it with pda and knowing how to use the system. Now slap me if i am wrong but i was pretty sure the thread asked how to do it with the pda.....

Thank you talesin for not being rude about it and helping in a kindly manner but i wanted to try to do it using the pda just so i know how. If i cant figure it out i will probably do the fuse thing.
 
Short version, you can't clear a DTC with the stock EPROM through software. Mitsu SOP is to pull the positive from the battery and let it sit. With DSMLink you can manually clear codes, but again, not on the stock EPROM (or non-EPROM, depending on your luck in the crapshoot). From my own experience, 30 seconds is usually enough to do it, though two to five minutes is the recommended 'safe' wait time.

And do you mean that you have Palm 'n Stein, or the actual Mitsu factory program? Thought they used scantools, not PDAs.
 
No it is a palm pilot that has the mitsu program on MMCd not exactly sure what it stands for but you plug a wire into the diagnostics port and into the palm pilot. It tells your rpms and a lot of other stuff that i don't knoe but the guy we bought the car from said that you can clear trouble codes from it.
 
MMCD is pretty much the same thing as Palm 'n Stein. It's just a logger tool. You can *pull* DTCs with it, but as far as I know not clear them. Here's a link to the main page, where they reference erasing 'fault' codes, but there looks to be a big, hard-to-miss button.

If you pull the fuse, clear the ECU and the DTC keeps coming back, it's likely you have a 'caused by' problem, rather than the actual O2 sensor itself for whatever reason. In the case of an O2 fail, obviously logging the O2V and making sure the sensor is cycling properly would be the first step, then moving on from there, searching here for potential related causes.
 
My pocketlogger clears my injector circuit code (41) from my stock eprom ecu. One thing worth noting, is that the car has to be in the acc position, and the motor cannot be running to clear the codes with my pocketlogger.

I would try the "menu" button on various screens in that mmcd program. I'm not very familiar with that one, but there's probably options you haven't found if you haven't played with that menu button, it's the lower right hand "button" on the "graffiti" area of the screen... it looks like a drop down menu with a mouse pointer on it.
