tranny issue...no reverse

ok so today I was going to fix my meth injection so I took out the UICP from my car and I decided to unbolt the shifter cables as well (don't know why I did this) maybe for more room or something...anyways I fixed my meth injection and I put everything back together but suddenly my shifter was weird...I usually have to slide the shifter toward me and then up for 1st gear but after all this, my 1st gear was directly up...I couldn't slide the shifter toward me...and if I went all the way towards the passenger side and down (as for reverse) it would move forward as if it were in 4th gear...The gears down grind or anything....anyone know what it could be????

Wow that diagram helps alot . I'm guess the cause of your problem is just some mistake during installation.. seems like the shifter cable is too far to the left. Try maybe adjusting the cable? Open everything back up remove it, clean it and reinstall it..

You don't have the linkage's on the transmission right. Put the car in Neutral. Take them off. Make sure they are free of any binds.
