Ok guys, I've got a weird noise and a couple other things that may or may not be related.

Here we go:

1. When idling, I hear a very faint whine/squeal (similar to squeaky belt). When I push the clutch IN this noise disappears. (Pedal out = Noise, Pedal in = Silence)

2. When driving I randomly hear a faint chirp sound (like very short squeal). When this sound happens the car slows slightly as if I had tapped the brakes. The sound and the slowing are both very faint but gradually becoming less faint.

3. When in neutral, if I try to hold the RPM's ner 2K, there will be a click and the engine will jump to around 3K... without me moving my foot at all.

Now, I have searched (mostly on 1 and 2) and I was thinking that the throw out bearing could be bad. Now I've still been looking and I read somewhere that when the TOB goes bad then it will make noise when the clutch is DEPRESSED. Mine makes noise when the clutch is RELEASED.

I really want to get through my drivability issues so I can start playing with my new car!

Thanks in advance guys.

The noise could still be the throw out bearing, my truck does the same thing, I've just been ignoring it(which I don't recomend anyone else do) until i have to replace the clutch. It's been doeing it for a good 3 years now and has not gotten any worse(or better),but I don't drive far and it sits all winter so it don't get salt on it.(makes alot of sence park the 4wd in the winter, I know)

does it also do the weird slow/chirp thing when you're moving? (mine only seems to happen above about 2K rpm)

Ok so I finally got around to getting the tranny out last night. How can I tell if the TOB is what was causing my problems? It seems to spin fine, actually a little easier than the new OEM one I got from RRE? It's also a tad bit bigger it looks like. I'm assuming this is the one that came with the ACT 2600 clutch that's in there but I didn't do it so I don't know for sure.

There was no visible damage to the pressure plate or any other clutch components. The fluids from the tranny and the T-case were both clear and metal-free.

Anyway, what I really want to know is: is there any way to tell if the TOB was what was causing me these problems just from looking at it? Is there anything else I should check while I have the tranny on the ground?
