i just had to replace my transfer case cause my rear wheels just locked up on me and the new case has around 83000 miles on it and luckely i found it in junk yard...does anyone know what would be the best place to get one just in case this one goes bad down the road..is there a website or shops around my area that rebuild the transfer case or rear differentials? how long do the transfer cases usually last for? thanx for any advise

There is a safety recall for the transfer cases. They lose oil and can cause lockups.

There is a TON of info on this. Search around... you can probably (maybe) get a dealer to honor the recall if you are tenacious about it. Since it is a safety recall, it is valid for the life of the car regardless of owner, mods, etc. (in theory anyway LOL
