My engine is leaking something

okay this has been going on for about a week now and cant seem to find what it is. when i park my car in my driveway or in my garage i get these splotches scattered on the floor under the left part of the hood but when i check the oil its okay along with everything else.. is this something to be concerned about?

What color are these "splotches"? Have you looked around your engine bay to were you can see excessive fluid coming out? Have you checked to see if your powersteering pump is leaking? Have you checked your power steering fluid?

When you say left side you are talking driver side ...Right? I have people come in my shop a lot and will say left side when they mean the right side. Always say the side like you are sitting in the car.

Last car I had in the customer said it was leaking turned out to be the A/C dripping out water. Could that be what you are finding?

well when i took off the spark plug cover there is a build up of oil and oild on some wires and for the splotches its not oil its like water but i check my powersteering fluid and its full
when i sit in my car is the drivers side..sorry about the vague post i was half asleep and coming back from vacation.

If you just got the car there is a chance someone cleaned the engine bay and the water got in under the cover. You might want to get a new valve cover gasket with the spark plug hole O-rings and replace that just for the hell of it. I did mine in the spring, the gasket set is like 20.00 at my local NAPA store.

okay checked everything and i took it for an oil change and the last owner striped the oil can bolt which leaked over a couple of hours and i will switch the gaskets for the hell of it and thanks to everyone that helped
