Well...before my car used to work for about ten minutes with a normal idle then the idle would start to jump up and down until the car would shut down. My friend told me thats its probably a maf sensor so i changed it, the car had a rought idle at first for about 30-40 min then it was perfect. So today i decided to take off the maf for some damn reason and forgot to put it back when i was driving the car out, the car worked fine for about 10 min until i realized that the maf was off. I put the maf back and the car worked fine for another 10 minutes then the idle started to jump again and the car shuts off, it backfires right now if i try to keep the idle up. It seems to me that the car is running rich like hell but WHY??? Please help did i wreck my ecu because i had the car running without the maf?

You didn't hurt it without running the MAF. You have a different problem though. What I would do to see what's up is:

1. test the ISC motor
2. Boost leak test

If you don't know how to do either of these, just search. You have to just use an ohmmeter to test the resistance between a couple different pins on the ISC (idle speed control) motor, and for a boost leak test you just need to make a leak tester and put it on the turbo and add some compressed air.

After you do these, I would probably check out the ECU board as well and look for any visible damage.

I think Adam is as close as you can get. These things had a lot of idle problems. If the idle stop switch is set correctly then likely you have an isc or pcm problem. Or both.

Do his suggestions.

Good luck
