i already have valve springs and retainers so buying 280's wouldn't be a problem...but what i want to know is...are 280's really that much better than the other 2?

yeah i guess i didn't specify enough, but it's kinda hard since my turbo isn't installed yet and i don't know its characteristics. i have the sbr g50 with a built bottom 7bolt and plan on max'n this turbo out. choppy idles dont bother me and i'm looking for mid-high powerband increases.

are you running an ems or chip with a raised rev limiter? if not too large of a cam won't help you as much. when i was running 272's it was kinda slugish til 5700-6000 rpm, then it would take off like a bat out of he......... that was using an sbr gt12. i swapped the intake cam for a 264 and it was ALOT better. you kinda need a higher rev limiter to get into the effeciency range of those larger cams. just my $.02, good luck with whatever you decide.
