Downpipe

Kind of unsure but have a pretty good idea...to clear things up...


Can I just throw on a 2.5" downpipe onto my stock(ish) system?

You can, but I don't know why you'd put a 2.5" downpipe that will neck down to a 2" exhaust. Kinda defeats the purpose.

i tried to do it with an apexi n1, it was 3" too long. Then i found out that it can't really be done right without engine management because of the rear o2 sensor. I'm waiting on it until i get dsmlink. hope this helps.

ok, so obviously just going 2.5 Turbo back would be best. What do you think the noticeable difference would be between that and what I have now?

i have a 3" cat back on right now ant that raised boost to spike @ 12psi w/out a boost controller.currently I have boost @14psi. You get uninterrupted flow. you get quicker spool. hence more power. My exhaust gave me awesome midrange power.

I installed just a 3" catback and it made a difference. The stock system seems to really hold back. I noticed the most in the upper RPM range, even though the t25 is breathless past 4500, it showed gains. Im contemplating on a dp myself. Im not sure if I just want to get a test pipe, or the tp/dp combo.

Your BEST bet would be to go 3" all the way back with a test pipe. You will notice the most power increase when doing this over installing a catback system and holding off and then wait and get the downpipe later. I notice the biggest difference with my downpipe/testpipe install over my catback system. Thats just me
