16G for $100

I can get me hands on a 16G (not sure what kind, but not ebay) that needs a rebuild for $100. 2 questions:

1. Is it worth it to rebuild that turbo factoring in purchase price and cost of a rebuild
2. Do I need a different exhaust manifold or is it a bolt on application?('90 FWD 5spd)

a new Turbo for $530. or spend some more for the EVO 3 16G.

Rebuild will start at $250.

Can you post a pic of the Turbo, so we can tell you what kind of 16G it is.

you get what you pay for. And yes the 16g is a bolt on turbo

thats from FP at that price you might as well buy a brand new turbo and be into it about the same as rebuilding your old one.

personally i will always choose new turbo over a rebuilt turbo if the price is decently close.

I paid that for a good condition used small 16G. Less in fact. Not worth it.

Depends on your financial/time situation. If your in a money crunch and have some time to learn how to rebuild a turbo yourself it is definitely worth it. There is a great how-to in VFAQ on rebuilding a 14b. Then all you need is a genuine Mitsubishi rebuild kit. put it together and have it balanced. BTW in the VFAQ don't just mark the position of the nut and shaft, such a sloppy way to do it...turbos spin upwards of 10k rpm earmarking is not cool in this region have it balanced

If this is your daily driver or you don't want to mess with it, just buy a new MHI 16g

The problem with rebuilding is some people charge more to rebuild these smaller turbos than there worth or what you could find a decently used one for.
