ok so heres the deal my car(93 eclipse 2.0 non turbo 5 speed) takes a while to start when cold, it will actually start only if i play with the gas pedal a little bit. then after it starts it idles at about 700 to 800 rpms and if i don't keep pressing the gas pedal then it will die. After it warms up then it actually stays on and running descent but it will idle at about 1500 rpms. what can be the problem any suggestion will help thanx.

Sounds like a bad temperature sensor on the thermostat housing. My talon did the same thing until i found a yellow broken wire on that sensor. It is the one that has a vertical and a horizontal male connector on the sensor. I could also be your IAC (Idle Air Control). Check in your manual on how to test it. Last but not least, your MAF (Mass Air Flow) may be bad. Is your CEL on? if so, what are the codes.

when is the last time you check you plugs and wires and i think the other guy is right check your maf and you temp sensor

i've just finish rebuilding the engine about 2 months ago and i put new spark plugs but i think i need new wires or something else b/c i sometimes here like arcing but i can't seem to see where its coming from. What brand of spark plugs is recommended for these vehicles?

well it turns out that the the connector that connects to the sensor the one with the horizontal and vertical connection has 2 wires going to it a yellow and a green one. As i was looking at it i noticed that the green one was cut off. where can i get another connector and is this the coolant temperature sensor or another sensor?

I get the NGK spark plugs from Oreilly Auto Parts. Yes, that is the sensor that I was talking about :) You can strip down the wires on that plug and splice in a new connector. See if you can chop one off an eclipse or talon in a junk yard. If not, go to walmart and get some female wire connectors. they will fit on the sensor...be sure to get the right wires on the right terminal.

hey quick question well i rewired the temp. sensor and pluged it back up and now the car just cranks and cranks and won't even start even with me tapping the gas pedal the car still won't start. so i was thinking maybe the wires still loose somewhere, will that sensor make the car not start?
