ok is there any differance between the Turbos on 1G FWD Turbos and 1G AWD Turbos.
ive herd that the AWD's have a T25 Turbo on them and the 1G FWD's have a B14 Turbo on it. Is that right or are they both B14's?

That would be the 13g on the 1G automatics, sir. Which is desired as an upgrade part (in pairs) by the 3KGT-VR4 guys.

Er... I'm not sure the 13g is below the t25, man. It's not THAT much smaller.

They're roughly comparable. Either one is not the desired turbo. And people continue to sell 13g's on ebay advertised as 14b's. Or 14b's advertised as 16g's, etc. Either way, if you have the means or opportunity to upgrade from a T25 to a 14b, I highly recommend it, as it is such a fun turbo.

When installing the 14b you can get away with only buying the oil feed and drain lines, then swapping the water lines. You will still need a j-pipe to connect the 14b to the stock intercooler piping. A used 14b, new j-pipe, new oil fee/drain lines, should run you about $300-325. It will be a nice improvement over the stock t25. If you have a little extra money, I would suggest looking into the MHI Evo3 16G turbo. It will bolt up like the 14b (with j-pipe and oil lines) but it has much more potential. You can get that turbo new for $550. If your t25 is blown, now would be the time to upgrade to a 14b/16g turbo or even a bolt-on 50 trim.

Why even bother with a 16g when you can get a 50 trim for the same price or even cheaper when you take into consideration the price of the install kit for the 16g.

Example:

Evo III 16g is 569+ 30 shipping + 300 Install Kit = $899

50 Trim is 750 + 30 shipping + 40 oil supply line = $820

IMO, the 16g is a waste of time and money for someone that wants to make between 300-500hp. The 16g can produce a comparable amout of power to the 50 trim but its going to take a lot more to get it there. Do it once, do it right the first time and save yourself a headache later down the road.

Evo3 16G looks more stock (looks liek a 14B). Evo3 16G spools quicker. Just, prepare to get sh!t for knocking the "sacred" evo3 16G LOL .

I agree. For the end results an evo3 16G is not worth the effort compared to the pricing of a journal bearing 50-trim.

yes but that depends on what you are using the car for I myself am not looking for a big turbo that takes longer to spool you would have to do more for your car to get it ready for a 50 trim instead of just bolting a 16g on. The 50 trim is more of a drag turbo. I'm looking for for an auto cross and the e316g is perfect for the goals im looking for

I agree that a quick spooling evo3 is more ideal for autoX. But, what has to be done to prepare your car that would not have to be done for an ev3 16g? There are bolt on 50 trims. 650cc injectors can take you far into the potential of a 50-trim wheel. So you can get away w/ just an safc.

I am not knocking the evo3 16G, but a well tuned 50-trim is pretty quick spooling. It is "streetable" and not just for straight line acceleration. A properly chosen hotside is key.

Yea, being that we've never got the original poster's goals or 92dsmtalon's, we're going in circles.
