I just raised my car up 1/2 inch today and thought maybe i did it wrong. I raised it up by the collars at the bottom of the spring. BUT, when i was finishing up, i noticed at the base of the coilover, it unscrews from there also. So you could raise it and lower it from there also? Did i do it the right way? I want my spring rate to be about the same as it was, but the way i rasied it, compresses up on the spring, seemingly making my spring rate stiffer. The directions that came with the Tein Flex, basically give you the specs of how to set them initially or for optimum performance. Anyone tell me if im doing this right? Thanks:thumb:

See you can unscrew the black threaded piece from the green base, lowering it and raising it that way too.

The way i raised it was tightening the collar at the base of the spring itself.

Which way is the correct way?

Im pretty sure the one at the bottom is only there so you can loosen it and the whole assembly will rotate if you need it to. When its installed in the car, if I remember correctly, if you loosen the bottom one you can spin the assembly if the coilover is installed on the shock tower only and not bolted to the suspension on the bottom of the coilover.

I thought that adjusting the ride height from the bottom of the spring was correct too but then I found this:

It seems to say other wise (unless I'm reading this post or that one wrong, which is possible). I've always wondered what the bottom ring was for on my Flex's. What does everyone else have to think about the link's way?

Well you just threw me a curve ball. It sorta makes sense, but I would need to mess with my coilover to see if its right. I always used the spring to adjust the height.

I would also like to hear what others have to say about this?

In that link, that is exactly what i was referring to and that guy explained it perfectly with the pictures. I had everything set to exact specs. But changed those specs by turning the collars compressing the spring upward by 1/2". So, seemingly i did it wrong, as it seems it should have unscrewed the black threaded portion from the lower base to raise the car. Anyone else know the real deal? Thanks for the inputs guys :thumb:

It does make sense to adjust the height by the bottom the more I think about it. I need to find my instructions and play with my coilovers a bit. 95EclipseGST Once you get yours dialed in can you post pictures of the ride height and the measurments of everything on the coilover? Ill do the same once I finally get my car running and have the time to do it. Right now I have too much going on already with my build.

Adjust at the base of the shock body. The rings under the spring are to adjust pre-load. They will raise the suspension height too but doing so may have undesired side effects.

I hope by raising the springs 1/2 inch doesnt hurt too much then. I will probably change it to adjust at the base of it, when i get back from my road trip. Then pay for another alignment  How does the -1.2 degrees of camber sound though? Actually my left side camber is -1.2 and the right side is -1.6. The coilovers are exactly at the same heights though and the guy at goodyear said thats not far off at all and not to worry. What do you guys think. Should i mess with the right side just a bit to try and achieve -1.2 on that side as well, or is the goodyear guy right, that its no big deal. Just knowing that its slightly off kinda bugs me though. Is this truly nothing to worry about?
