i no that when a car is cold and you start it the idle is usually high maby like 100 -200 higher but mine in like 1500 higher my car idles at about 800-900 when warm but from a cold idle its about 2500 and with my exaust and all its getting realy annoying in the mornings and late nights its a 91 talon tsi awd if any one could help out it would be great????

most turbo cars idle higher when cold, just check for boost leaks and anything that could cause it to idle even higher. Mine warms up around 2600 rpms and my friends warms up around 2400. All cars are a little different. Get a silencer

Mine is around 2500 as well when its first started and cold. If it goes down to about 800-900 rpm's when warm maybe you should double check your biss after you run it for 20 min and its at operating temperature. You want idle around 750 since thats the stock computer setting, if you set it high your isc has to work harder to get it down to 750 where the ecu wants it to be.

High idle is always associated (almost always) with the throttle body. First things to look for is the ISC (idle speed control motor). It is the bottom most electric part (has a big plug and is either black or tan in color). Search ISC for more details on how to check on it's condition. The next is the BISS screw. If it is missing or backed out or leaking, it will cause a high idle (and sometimes idle surge). The next is a stuck throttle plate. Leave this as a last resort because you have to remove the TB to inspect. Last, is the throttle shaft seals. If your TB is old, chances are your TB shaft seals are old and hard, and therefore leaking.
