stupid timing belt question of the night..

so i was reading up on timing belts...and skipping teeth and such...can anyone verify what the timing belt (mainly in position of the cam gears) should look like if right...quiet honestly i've gone dumb and don't know....should the cam gears teeth be even with each other?

No, the teeth are interlocking. Be sure to put the front cam with the dowel pins FACE UP! Then align the notches level with the head... not flat level with the ground.

Also, use a ruler or something and align it on both cam bolts and see if your timed correctly.

If your not sure about how it looks actually print out the vfaq and take it out to your car with you. I printed a copy out to keep in my garage just for the hell of it, and it definately has come in handy.

Ive heard both sides of this story. The shop I bring my car to says they should not be interlocking and should be almost like a mirror image of each other. There have been a few posts on here with interlocking teeth and the timing being off a tooth.
