Toronto,
I need some help. I am just about to go buy lowering springs for my 92 FWD TSI the car is mildy modded with about 260hp. I need some opinions on the spring rates I should be looking for. I would like to drop my car anywhere from 1- 1.8 inches and would like to make sure the rear end will be stiff.

Please give me some ideas as to what I should be looking for and what company to go with.

Thanks

Upgrade your shocks first. Lowering springs are all about looks. Your ride quality is going to suck.

Eibach Sportlines are the standard spring to go with, if you want to drop the ride and still maintain a good spring rate. You WILL need better shocks to control them. KYB AGX are cheap, and tend to do a decent job, along with being adjustable.

Perfect exactly what I was looking for I will be going with the kyb agx. However how much should I drop the car?

The last question you asked is a personal problem you must decide on. My car is lowerd 1.5 inches, I think the Eibachs are the same or maybe a bit more (1.8). Any more than that and you will run in to major camber issues, that must be taken care of. With my drop I noticed minor negative camber. I havent decided whether it is enough to get my lazy ass out there to fix it. You also don't want to buy cheap springs because most likely they will sag and settle to more than the advertised drop.
