We need more information if we are going to help you out. Do you have the GReddy "plug-n-play" harness? Or are you trying to hardwire the timer?

If you have the plug-n-play harness, its really very easy...

-Disconnect the negative battery cable.
-Remove the upper and lower steering column covers that are located just behind the steering wheel. Once the covers are removed, you will have access to the single white ignition system connection that is located under the steering column. Connect the plug-n-play harness between this ignition connection.
-Tap the safety wire into your parking brake. You will have to cut and peel back a little bit of the red wire cover in order to gain direct access to the parking brake wire. Once the wire cover is peeled back, use the wire tap that came with your TT to splice the safety wire into the parking brake wire.
-Ground out the final wire to the chassis or alternately connect it to the ECU ground pin.

Hardwiring a turbo timer is slightly more involved than using the plug-n-play harness, but even this task can be done by simply following the 2g TT Hardwire tech article

This quote of yours kind of stuck out to me, but again you're not very clear. What do you think you hooked up opposite? Possibly the parking brake safety wire and the ground wire? You really need to clarify and be more specific so we can help you better.
