Recently ive been having trouble with performance noticing that car is running slower and limited to 13 pounds of boost when my normal settings are at 16psi, my idle is sometimes very low and fluxes a bit when at a stop... i also JUST noticed a noise coming from the back of my car... after jacking up the car and getting under it i can't pin-point the location exactly but its definitally up and around my fuel tank. My first thought was my fuel pump is going bad... my friend who worked at a tuner shop gave it a brief listen and said the same thing but he didnt take a CLOSE look. I took out my back seat where you get access to the fuel pump but the noise seemed to be more "under" the car, is there anything else it could be?? Before i take it in to the shop?? (my check engine light IS on also assuming ### of this if that helps)...

Sounds to me like a boost leak. If your losing boost you probably have a boost leak. Do a test. I would recommend you also get a spray bottle of water and spray all possible leak areas. Some people short cut this, but i have found several that i wasn't able to hear but bubble when i sprayed them.

I couldn't tell you about you noise, but that is an unrelated problem to your tappering boost. If you pump is going bad your boost won't drop.

I would use a logger if you have one or take your car to autozone and find out what your check engine light says.

i was told my boost/vac was fine no leaks by my friend who worked at a tuner shop... but he did say that if my Fuel pump is malfunctioning it could affect my boost as far as putting the ECU in some kind of safe mode? The noise in the back is definitally related to it. Idle it doesnt do it much, while driving its consistent... sounds like a clicking almost as if you had a cd changer in the back and it kept changing CDs... thats what it sounds like.

drove my car earlier today for a short distance... stopped home then tried to start it back up and its now dead... im fairly confident my fuel pump finally just died... but is it weird that it drove and started with no problem and now all a sudden doesnt start or turn over AT ALL?!
