Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

a big 16 g will work however it will require the car to run on the ragged edge of tuning. a larger turbo will allow you to run 11's with much less stress on the rest of the car. its better to move more air volume with a big turbo than it is to force more air with add boost on a small one. a bushur 20 g will do the trick for around 975

If you go with a big 16G make sure to get it clipped it will help out the top end.

Let me say this. My car has had a leaking head gasket (pushes coolant under boost) since the day I first ran the car (about 3 months ago). Must not have sealed up 100% correct after the build-up. Anyways, until this last weekend (problem is starting to rear its ugly head more-so now) my car was running 8 FLAT in the 1/8th at 89mph (1.81 60'). This was on my Forced Performance ported/clipped tdo5 20G at 20 psi w/ C16 race gas. So figure that's approx. 12.3 or so for 1/4 mile time. Not bad considering there's no telling how much power I'm losing with the leaking HG!!! Needless to say I am very happy w/ my FP 20G. I have NO doubt that once I change the HG and put in my Webs and VPC that she'll be running 7.40's-7.60's!

My vote: FP 20G :D

heres my fp t04E garrett, oh how i love it. it is compared with an 18g for an idea of how big it is.

A good turbo shop should be able to put in a larger internal wastegate to work for "Most" turbos. A 20G is small compared to some turbos out their that I know of running internal wastegates.

no question 11's all day. but the anti dsmperformance haters that post all those BS problems wont agree.OMG

one of them clows even said i work for extremeturbo because i didnt talk bad about them LOL get a life hahaha

I never talked bad about the turbo either, I love it. I just never go to the track. Even if I never have a timeslip that says 11's as long as I can smack on anything I meet on the street it's fine with me.

I have a Hahn 20G w/ internal gate. Their 20G is different from the other ones out there. Most 20G's are with a 7cm2 or 8cm2 turbine housing, but HRC uses 10cm2 housing to eliminate boost creep. So far its good. Plus it includes a 02 housing.

But isn't lag really ugly with the 10cm2 housing. It's big but you lose a lot of velocity withthat big of an opening. Or am I wrong?? That's just what I would think.

Well i got the HRC20G aswell i hit full boost around 3500rmp range so if you concider that alot of lag.. For me its just right so i dont ride around boostin all day but yet when i wanna boost just a lil gas and boom the boost is there..

Getting "full Boost" by 3500 is pretty vauge. How much boost is full boost? I run the ETA32 and get full boost "19-20psi" by 3600ish on a 3rd gear pull. I have no problems with my "mutt" I love it. If my car would stop breaking I would could get some track numbers to go along with it.

You can get the Buschur 20g for $975 and it will make it a lot easier to 11's. A 16g runnign 11's is a lot fo work and usually the cars that run those times are at track every week and spend tons of time tuning. They also power shift their cars and get 60ft times in the 1.6's. Just letting you know it's pretty hard, but you cna do it. You said you want to do a budget build up, well check out my site if you want really good prices www.RnRRacing.com
