Ok i have a stock 91 talon tsi and i have tried to figure out high and low what is wrong with my car at first it would only boost to 4-5 psi and then just rev high, now i fixed the boost leaks, and it now boost 10 psi but the car doesnt seem to pull very hard at all it has some go but not like when i bought this car. I took it to a shop and was told it still has the automatic ECU:rolleyes: from when it once was an auto(it is now a manual) does this have anything to do with me not getting my max potential here? ALSO i dont have my oil coolant lines connected (from the previous owner when they swapped in the JDM) could my turbo be fried PLEASE HELP IF NOT I HAVE TO RESORT TO SELLING IT BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Automatic ECU is tuned for smaller injectors and smaller turbo, so that could be it... Otherwise, check shatfplay.

+1 you'll be running rich as hell because the IPW (injector pulse width) is the same and the ecu thinks it's sending that pulse to a 390cc injector when in reality it's sending that amount of pulse to a 450cc injector and spraying a lot more fuel than it thinks it is.... causing you to run rich and eventually ruin your rings.

as far as your turbo goes, to check to see if its bad, you will want to pull the intake off the turbo. the reach down and grab the nut on the wheel, move it side to side up and down and in and out. if you fell and play in the shaft then you know the turbo is shot:thumb:

i have no shaft play i already checked. So do you think my best bet is to get the manual ecu???

If you didn't change the engine at all from the automatic to the manual, then it's fine. If you did a complete MTX transmission with engine and all, then it might be running rich. The difference between the ATX and the MTX transmission ECU is the injectors it's calibrated for so you could have pretty much any turbo 2.0 engine in there as long as you had the same injectors, I've never seen a rich condition that would case the engine rev's to change while the speed stays nearly the same.

The fact that you got a $120 clutch and have probably been beating on it before it was broken in, leads me to believe that you've worn out your clutch.

Yeah, go out and get a new turbo, you'll make the problem worse.

'the car doesn't pull' is a little too open...i mean a car could not pull because of another boost leak....a worn clutch that is slipping...ANYTHING. although the ECU could be a big part, and it wont break your wallet either.

kelly is on the right track...and if the clutch thing is true...you might wanna check it out as well just to be safe..
