Quick question here. I have a 6 bolt turbo head and a unknown head in my garage at this time. I am asking to see weather or not I can interchange them because one is much cleaner than the other. There are some identification marks on the 2 heads.

the non turbo one (six bolt/seven bolt)???
It has a "T" under the cam sensor, and between the two cams it says "G6" and there is a "6" under it.

The 6 bolt turbo head has a "t" under the cam sensor and between the two cams it has "G6" and below that there is a "5"

thanks very much for any help. -nate-

Are the bearing surfaces of the dirtier head marred? Is there anything wrong with it other than it being dirtier than the "unknown" head?

there is just alot of gunk on the outside of it. Both heads look fine to me. However I am intrested to know if they are interchangable. I was going to run the stock head for the time being, then build a nice head as funds become available. I am still thinking of what parts to put in it. Defintally some different cams, and some good valves, but I have to do a little more research before I can make a good decision.

Just pressure-wash the dirty turbo head. There's no real difference between the turbo and nonturbo head cores (though obviously the parts that go on are different). Though there IS a major difference between six bolt versus seven bolt. The head bolt holes on the seven bolt are much smaller, and six-bolt diameter head bolts or studs won't fit through without a good bit of machining.

thanks, I will clean that turbo head up. I did take my head bolt and put them in the unkown head. They fit, so I guess its a 6 bolt head. Wonder why they made the 7 bolt smaller? I would make them bigger.

thanks for your help, -nate-
