Well I just upgraded a ton of stuff in my car and a boost gauge was one of them. Just to test it, i t'd it into the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator and left it under the hood (nothing else attached to it). I get no reading at all. I tried t'ing it before and after the solenoid and nothing. What an I doing wrong?

Check for a kinked/damaged nylon hose. My first bet would be that you are leaking air going to the gauge. Get a (soft) copper line instead. You can pick one up from your local Ace Hardware store. :) Or you can go down to NAPA and pick up another nylon line kit. Your decision.

Make sure your connection to the gauge itself is good, and you used some teflon tape. Copper line is also not a bad idea.

Oh yeah, listen for hissing. That would surely indicate an air leak.

Hope you're using a trustworthy boost gauge, and not some sh*t like Faze or a Walmart brand. :nono:

Well you have it t'd in the right line. If there aren't any kinks in the line and it doesn't read vacuum or boost i'd say the guage is broken. Theres not much to screw up when installing a boost gauge.

Ok, how is it that a pressure gauge (mine has no vaccum rating at all) will work off of a vaccum line? Dont I need to hook it into something pushing out pressure?

When you put in your boost line did you heat it up with a lighter to get all the curves out? I made that mistake before and it would kink and be all dumb with me.

You will need to build boost before you get a boost reading. Once you build boost that line will have pressure

Thats the gauge I purchased.

Just for archives-sake I'm throwing up a photo of the eBay product you purchased.

Well, obviously you missed reading this link and this link. When you're starting out, you want this type of gauge that reads both vacuum and boost pressure.

If you really wanted to go through all the trouble, you could get a separate gauge like this that only gives vacuum readings, but I see that as a waste of time/energy/money, especially for someone just starting out in the aftermarket community. In addition, you would have to keep your eyes on two gauges, instead of the ease of just keeping a close eye on one.
