Hello all,
I have a few questions on some modifications that I am doing on my 1995 Eclipse GSX.
I will explain the modification that I currently have on the car and also what I plan on adding to the car so you can answer my question better.

- FMIC
- 16G turbo
- 3" cone intake

I also have 550cc injectors and a 255lph fuel pump that I haven't installed yet. I am planning on adding water/alcohol injection (50/50), upgraded ECU (Hydra Nemesis 2.5) to replace the stock ECU ( http://www.tracktive.co.uk/content.php?page=131 ), and eventually reinforce the internals.

I am curious about a few things,
-Will it be ok to drive the car on its current set up, or will it damage my engine?
-At what point will I absolutely HAVE to tune the car without damaging the engine for the mods I plan on adding?
-Will this upgraded ECU take the place having to take the car in to get it tuned?

I know that I am a Newbie but I am really trying to learn as much as I can.
Thanks for the help guys,

Nathan

Do you have a boost gauge and boost controller? Without any fuel you should probably not have it over 14-15 psi.

There are way better options for tuning then that ecu. You have a 95 so the chances of having a eprom on your car are pretty good. You could go the expensive rout with dsmlink for 600 plus 200 for a laptop. Or g with a keydiver chip for about 175. If you dont have an eprom you can just expect to add another 200 to those prices. Yes if you upgrade the injectors at all you will need some type of fuel control. If you go for that big of a pump also you will need an fpr. I recommend just getting a 190 because it is rated for up to 400hp.

There are a few things you might want to buy before you get some of those mods. Like a logger, www.dsmloggers.com. You can also find them in the classifieds. Look at the Tec/DIY section for your 2g it will guide you well through the steps you should take.

With the 16g the 550cc injectors and fuel pump is a good start, but I would suggest a fuel pressure regulator with a gauge to control the bigger pump. If you don't want to mess with that and don't expect to get crazy with a larger set up later a 190lhp pump might be better.

I did not see a price on that replacement ecu, but there is a good device if you have that kind of money called DSMlink(535 bucks new) that most people love. You will need a eprom ecu, 1995 had eproms, to be able to run DSMlink and you will have to get is socketted(50 bucks). Or if your not so rich you can buy a key driver chip for 5 bucks and a burner for 100 and do it yourself if you have the know how. Either route will be good because you will be able to program injecotr size, rev limits, ect.

Putting bigger injectors, turbo, and a fuel pump will make your car run like poop, probobly won't run too well on boost what so ever. You will need at least a logger and a air fuel controller to tune with safely.

I do not have a boost gauge or controller on the eclipse yet, I do want to get one though. Thats also why I am kind of scared to drive the car because I have NO idea what PSI I'm running at. I had a mechanic put the turbo on but I haven't done anything with it since then.
Is there any way that I can figure out what PSI I'm running without having a controller? Is there a stock PSI gauge that I can use to adjust the PSI that I'm running?
Thanks

You are going to want to buy a aftermarket boost gauge, autometer makes a good one for like 50 bucks. This will tell you what psi you are boosting. The factory gauge is nothing but a needle to amuse you.

Buying a boost controller will allow you to keep tabs on what level your boosting at. you can pick up a nice manual one for 50 bucks. Or if you want to go all out buy a mechanical one with flashy lights for 300 that does just as well as the mechanical. Your call!

If your fuel system is still stock and your running the 16g willout the engine hitting fuel cut, search that if you dont know what fuel cut is under the frequesntly ask questions, then you are below 14 psi because thats all the stock system can support on the stock turbo. My friend had his evo 16g and stock fuel and had to leave it at 12.

Did you look at the Tech/DIY yet?! ;)
