(2 Gears engaging)In 5th gear, and shifts other gears while stuck in 5th gear.

I just put a new shift rail in my tranny, and i put everything back together and i put it back into the car and i put everything back together, and i put the car in neutral. i start the car, and when i go to let off the clutch in neutral, it trys to jet forward, and i noticed that i cant slide it into 5th gear... probably because its in 5th gear, and its just moving through other gears. Is there a way i can fix this just by taking off the rear cover? 5th gear and rev should be there. it gets into reverse fine, im wondering if i can just put it into reverse, get in and fix 5th somehow, (something i probably forgot or put in wrong on the hub) and get it to pull out of 5th and re-attach it and then i can switch gears. Can someone help me and at least tell me if this is possible to do from the rear cover and maybe what to do, with some references? Thank you so much guys, I really need your help so bad, its so close to being done, yet so far.

You are going to have to take the tranny back out. Nothing under the rear coveer will fix this. Im trying to think of a good cause off of the top of my head but am coming up dry.

Man im going to have to sleep on this one...Have you checked you shifter cables??

Also have you tried getting it in neutral by hand?

it gets into neutral fine, it goes into all other gears but 5th, even when its in neutral, its also in 5th, 5th is in no matter what i do, its not set to pull back out is all.
