I'm about to do a flush and fill on my car because I've been recently having slight overheating issues on prolonged rides. I was at pep boys and I saw three different products that caught my eye..

-Water Wetter (yes I know there was two other posts about this)
-ProBlend "Stops Overheating: Lowers water temperature up to 40 degrees"
-ProBlend "Stops Overheating: Lowers water temperature up to 28 degrees"

The 40 degree problend comes in a little container while the 28 degree one comes in a big container.

I was wondering if anyone has used any of these and their results.

Also, would it be ok to run these with just water? They recommend it.

I have had very good results with water wetter. My car used to run hot, once i replaced my rad cap flushed the system and added some water wetter it ran alot cooler i would go with the water wetter.

Im betting they recommend running just water cause running pure water will reduce your temps, but you need coolant during the winter so it doesnt freeze. So im gonna call bs on those problend products actaully working.

Ive heard nothing but good things about water wetter though.

Any old car that gets its system flushed and runs straight water is going to run cooler. But that being said, I too have heard good stuff about Water Wetter. I tried it once long ago, but it didn't make enough of a difference for me. I've tried the problend too, it made almost no difference. Of course this was years ago with my old chevy malibu so I don't remember the exact temperature changes. As for running it with straight water, I wouldn't recommend it. Antifreeze has more than 1 purpose. Aside from preventing freezing, it raises the boiling point of your cooling system, as well as acts as a lubricant for the water pump, and corrosion inhibitor for the engine and radiator. I don't trust that little bottle of red stuff to do that.

More than 30% antifreeze reduces the system's cooling capability. Nothing we'd use carries off heat better than water. You need the components in antifreeze for water pump seal lubrication and conditioning, and to combat electrolytic corrosion. I'm iffy on wetters; seems like if it were a worthwhile enhancement, Prestone would include it in their coolant makeup. I don't know that they don't.
If your cooling system is so near the limits of its capabilities that wetter is going to make a significant difference, you have worse issues than the goop running through it.

Water for the summer time is waht i do
To add to Defiant's post, the lubricant's in the anti-freeze to help lubricate the T-stat.

Im willing to bet replacing your radiator cap had more to do with the lower temp's.

PS: Nice article Defiant.

I did some research on Watter wetter. They state the it actually keeps the water from forming air pockets from boiling into small bubbles when it comes into contact with the HOT water jackets in the head. They say the the cooling benefit comes from this because you have coolant in contact with the head at all times.. Dont expect it to fix a bad cooling problem but I run it in my cars. It basically eliminates hot spots in the head. I say its a good product and there explanation makes sense. Just my .02 (oh yea and Red Line's .02 also LOL

Well... I did a flush with Prestone flush.. then ran it with just water.. then filled it up with 20/80 coolant/water mix, plus Water Wetter. We'll see how this helps
