I'm about to rewire my cooling fans using the tech article on vfaq.com and it says on it to use 16 gauge wire but all I have at the moment is 14 guage. My question is, would it be alright to use the 14 gauge or do I need to go get some 16 gauge? I'm trying to save a trip to autozone

You'll be fine, 14 gauge would be better IMO because of the thickness. Make sure you buy a good switch if you plan on going that route. I bought a cheap one and the thing got hot!

You are always okay using larger wire versus smaller wire. (for reference 14 awg is larger than 16 awg) I would insist that you practice safe electricity and add a fuse to the wire from the power source. This will protect your car from burning the wire in a short, which can cause fires in the interior or engine bay.

Lol the switch I got a few days ago was like 5 bucks so I'm hoping/guessing its good. Thanks man.
