About to convert T25 to 14b. Got a question.

I've read the vFAQ and I've searched, but I've not seen a real definite answer on this one.

I know that installing a Mitsu turbo requires the use of a 2g install kit, but not everything in those kit's is an absolute requirement to use (i.e. the gasket's, ect), they're just a good idea.

The oil feed line is what I'm wondering about. Is that an absolute requirement, or does it use the same feed as the T25? From what I've read, the T25 gets it's feed from the oil filter area. This is correct?

Also, 1g's feed of the cylinder head correct?

That would mean that I would absolutely need a new oil feed line then right? I'm just trying to save myself some money, as I have access to a 1g J-pipe, and turbo to manifold gasket, so if I don't actually need a new oil feed line, I've got everything I need, and can install the turbo.

You need a replacement oil feed line. Some kits will use part of the existing feed line from the oil filter. Some will replace this altogether. The complete replacement is preferable because the stock hard line will often twist and break when attempting to separate the fittings.

Yeah, I saw that in the FAQ. Alright, well I guess that settles that. Hmmm, I might just pick up SBR's 2g kit then, since I'll get my oil feed line, plus it makes the pipe from the turbo hard pipes rather than having to fab something up myself by using the 1g j-pipe. Wish these kits were a lil bit less expensive.

You could try to piece it together yourself, or just by the slowboy kit like i did. You will need a j-pipe all the little gaskets and of course the oil feed line. The SB kit also comes with a 90 degree pipe and a hard section of pipe with a nipple on it for a boost source (you will need this for your MBC).

Do the turbo studs break as easily as some make it sound, or am I safe to try and reuse the ones that are bolting my T25 to my manifold?

i have reused them alot and haen't broken them but whe you pt them back in use some anti seize or arp moly lube so tehy stay in and when or if you have to take them out again they dont' seize and break on you, in other words they hold and come out easy next time.

i was able to reuseeverything from my t-25 on my 14b. i took special care when i took the old oil feed line, taking it off before moving the turbo or anything. All i had to do was just trim the bracket that connects the feed line to the t-25 turbo housing. Same goes for the water lines. and if u have the stock jpipe form the 14b, just turn ## rubber licp backwards and it fits fine.

How does the stock t25 oil feed line fit into the 14b when the 14b uses a banjo bolt to feed on top?

Can't do it, different fittings..

here lemme show u. in my car the oil feed line came in 2 parts. from the oil filter-> behind the turbo. then from there to the top of the turbo. it all fit perfectly, no forcing, bending or anything.
