So I am getting close to starting my engine for the first time, so I decided to boost leak test it. I tightened all connectors on the IC piping and vac lines that leaked but I'm still leaking out of my exhaust manifold after about 10 pounds and I can't build much more than that. I have it on TDC. Engine was just built and has not run yet and has had no oil except assembly oil but its not the rings that are leaking because I have the hose off the valver cover vent and nothing is coming out. Its all coming from the exhaust manifold. I know that if they were lapped wrong they could leak, but I'm really hoping its not:cry:
They are brand new SS OE sized valves. Somebody please tell me some good news other than, get another engine builder.

Timing belt lines up. The notch cut into the plate on the crank, the arrow on the oil pump gear and the cam gears have the pins facing 12 o'clock and the marks facing eachother, parallel with the cylinder head. I even pulled the valve cover to verify that none of the cam lobes were pushing the valves down.

It leaks down from like 13 psi, the max I can build, to zero in about 20 seconds. I'll try to rotate the timing belt about 30* and try again. I've got Crower 9K RPM valve springs, I'd figure they wouldn't want to open, let alone not seal!!!

Some valves may still be open. Try rotating to 30* ATDC. At this time, either the intake or exhaust valves should be closed on each cylinder.

I tried checking it at 30* ATDC and it still leaks. I'm going to put oil in it this weekend and prime it and see if that makes a difference. If not, I'm going to ram a 4G63 head down the throat of my engine builder
