Im currently running a Greddy Profec B Spec II ebc and im having a number of problems with it. Im running about 60% or 20psi with gain set about 17. I've adjusted the gain each way, when it is between 15-20, I hit 20 psi and it immediately drops to 15psi, which means I can't get lower otherwise it will get worse. When the gain is around 20-30, it hits the set wastegate psi and gradually goes up, the response is so slow I might as well be N/A. Is this thing that fine tuning or is it possible the solenoid is dirty? I have the line running to the controller T'd off to my boost gauge, could that cause a slow response? Ive tried everything, any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help

Hmm well I just put mine in and have it set at 52% which gives me 20psi, set gain at 19.5psi and gain% at 35 which results in about a 1psi creep up top but I think thats just the big turbo/internal gate combo...

An important aspect to note with your Profec B-spec II is that you have to "wake up" the device before each use. This is not mentioned in the user manual and took me a long time on the phone with the people at Greddy to figure out.

Every time the unit resets (I.E. turning on your car) you must hit a button to "wake up" the Profec. I usually just switch from low to high and back again.

In response to your problem: The "set gain" setting controlls when the wastegate starts responding. Therefore, too low of a setting would cause the wastegate to open prematurely causing poor boost response, and too high will cause boost spikes. I found that in order to get maximum response with as little spike as possible. I had to dial in this setting to a couple of PSI before my peak. (at 16 PSI I had it set at 13-14)

I hope this helps.

I agree, Im sure with the difference in turbo and gate combo, different people have different settings. Mine for 20 psi, I have to set it around 60%, start boost is around 57%, gain being at 20. I still have bleed off, also I notice around 10 psi (where the internal gate is set) I hear the wastegate open up, then shut again.

Reading the manual, they refer to "set gain" as start boost, I presume? As just previously stated, I have mine set about 3-4% ahead of my boost setting. Im not getting any spikes, I just hear the wastegate open around 10psi then shut, and slowly gain to 20psi then bleed back off to around 15psi

I know this has been along time but has anyone else experience this problem before. It is still reoccuring for me, I went to the track last night and was planning to run about 23psi but the boost would bounce between 15-20. And its not a slow bounce, its as if is bouncing off a rev limiter. Anybody have a clue what could be doing this?
