I used to do them all the time, but back and shoulder problems now prohibit that. They're about 120 lbs and it takes a while to get it all lined up, so if you can do sets of 135 lbs on the bench easily, it's no problem. Now that I'm older, I just use a cherry picker and do it the easy way. ;)

Yes, it is no problem, make sure you have a lot of room under the car to actually lift the tranny up with your chest, or else you will be just using your arms which will tire a lot quicker.

I was able to manuver the trans on my chest and lift it straight up, and into place, I then slid out of the way and used a jack to hold it in place while I tightened the bolts

Damn, this SOB is heavy i heaved that bastard couldn't get it to sit right and it almost killed me. Nobody said getting the splines to line up was such a hassle:mad: " just put it on your chest you'll be fine my ass" eff you guys i'm getting a tranny jack:thumb:

Make sure the transmission is in neutral.....

Oh but it does.....

Can you please elaborate?

I always put mine on in Neutral, but I put them in gear and turn the input shaft in each gear beforehand, to make sure each gear turns like it is supposed to (no grinding or binding). It seems like the transmissions would be able to still rotate the input shaft and line up the splines when it is in gear

When I did it the first time, we put a normal jack under it and lifted from the top to line it up. Took forever to get the damn thing in. Using a cherry picker, it lined up in about 3 minutes.
