New fmic and bov, install?

Ok, i got a new fmic with piping and a greddy-rs bov. i also ordered the flange from extremepsi (along with bov). do i have to weld the flange onto the piping?

No it should bolt-on, atleast most of them are like that. You will need a gasket to.

What is the flange on the ic piping?

Is the bov flange you ordered from extremepsi an adapter flange or one that was meant to be welded on.

If the flange on the ic piping is a 1g flange, you can modify it to take Greddy BOVs (type-s, type-rs, type-r), easily and no need to weld anything.

Leaving that flange you bought useless.

What fmic kit did you get? SSAC/XS Auto? If so you don't need to weld anything, just modify the 1g flange.

If that flange you bought from extremepsi is an adapter flange, (example: greddy flange to 1g flange) then you can use that and not need to modify the 1g flange on the ic piping. It will make your bov sit a little bit higher, and MIGHT cause recirculation a bit more difficult.

I have no adapter on the piping. Think of it as a custom piping kit. I figured i could cut a hole in the piping then weld the flange on and bolt the bov to that.

In your case, yes you will have to weld it on.

Had to do the same thing for my SSQV. Had them weld on the same diameter pipe that was on my flange, and am going to use a very short pice of hose to connect the two. Had the same setup on my GTI, worked just fine. Cost me $5.
