I need a new head for my 4g63 talon. I've found an 89 4g61 engine in a junkyard. Will this head work? Will the valves be able to handle the turbo abuse? Everything appears to be exactly the same, but I can be retarded sometimes and when "4G61" is put into the search engine only 2 hits show up. Thanks in advance!

Ok, I found this. Anyone else had similar experience? Will I need to swap out valves?

That's what I have on my car. You could just slap it on and go. But...

The main problem I saw was that the head was designed for a 82mm bore, so the sides of the combustion chamber overlap the piston on the sides. I highly recomend gasket matching the head to the headgasket. This will unshroud the valves and eliminate hotspots in the head. So far I've run 123.7 mph in the 1/4 mile on 96 octane gas.

Thanks for reviving this thread, I didn't have this head when the thread was started.

Oh wait, I just realised I have a 4G61 head on my car. It's off a early 90's Mirage. What is a 4G67 head from?

I kinda felt this warrented a bump. I went out and grabbed the 61 head from my junkyard. Everything is pretty much exactly the same, except the ports are smaller. That is, there is a lot more material in the port area.

I'm probably just going to do a gasket match and try and get the head as close to my 63 head as possible, maybe read some tech guides and take it a little bigger. For racers who know what they are doing and want something like a blank core to port, the 61 head may be a little closer to what you are looking for.
