Well, my last thread was deleted by me becasue I didnt even know what a short block and long block were, and it led to a bunch of small talk. I have decided In the futere after alot of reading, the 2.3l long block is for me.

What I want to know is reviews of different long blocks that people bought. SBR is actually looking to be the one I go with especially since its all I can find.

Going from the 2.3l stroker that sbr offers, I know I will need to buy there 2g kit for the swap. Other then that what will I need for the swap? Other parts that dont come, can I get them off my existing block?

I really wanted to do what you are doing, but the funds were just not there. I have ended up sticking with my local machine shop for block work and parts. I think strokers are just kick ass, I hope it works out for you.

As for a SBR long block, there are many DSM shops that make exactly the same thing. Never herd of quality issues with any of them. Then again, I do not have one.

As for parts....with a stroker motor you might want more cooling. Maby a better radiator, oil cooler, etc. This was another reason that I stayed away from the stroker, you have to replace everything on the car to get it working safely IMHO. For any high performance engine I would beef up the components around it for insurance.

I do believe that all you sensors should transfer over to the new engine, just take them off carefully and take not of their orientation so you can reinstall them in the correct fashion. There might be clearence issues with the oil pan because of the longer stroke of the engine. So be careful there, some people dent theirs with a hammer, or you might that the other route and upgrade to a big aluminum one.
hope this helped you out.

It doesn't sound like you know the difference yet. To get a 2.3L engine, the short block is changed, nothing else.

If you don't know what you're talking about, you should not give advice. Even though you are trying to be helpful you are really hurting this guy. Strokers don't need any more cooling than a 2.0L. This includes the radiator, oil cooler, etc...

I have the sbr kit. There is nothing different for a stroker engine that doesn't come with the kit. There will obviously be different mods to be done, but as for the basics of the engine, everything is the same. Also, no mods need to be done to the oil pan.

I have an FP 2.3 stroker in my car, and it is solid! Power and torque of plenty! I don't see them listed on their site anymore, but you could call to see if they are still putting them out. They are not cheap, but the quality is there, I just wish I could say the same thing about my Shep tranny.
