I forgot to bore my starter holes out.

So I did a transmission swap the other day in my 1990 awd talon. I put in a tranny out of a 95, everything went smootly until I tried to bolt my starter on and I couldnt get the bolts through the holes. So then I read on here that I was supposed to bore those holes out on the metal plate thats bolted to the block, and my question is I was wondering if anybody else had ever ran into this problem and is there an easy way to do this without taking the tranny back out. I though about trying a small electric drill but Im not sure if it will have the power to drill through that plate. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas im open to just about anything. Thanks

Man, i was really hoping not to hear that. I might try a few other things first but it is looking like it will have to come back out.

Well the starter lines up with the holes on the tranny. Its the holes on the tranny that dont line up with that thin metal shield that is bolted to the block.

The problem is that when you took the tranny out of the 95 you should have taken that small thing metal plate off the block of that 95 and swapped it for the metal plate on your 1g because i have both of these plates and i noticed that difference when I was rebuilding my 1g.

Try doing it in the car first, I dont know how much expierience you have with drilling metal, but that plate should only take seconds.

Yeah Im gonna try that. I havent had anytime to work on it since I last posted that. But i got my hands on a small high speed air tool that i should be able to get through that in no time. Im hoping to give it a shot this weekend. But thanks.
