spring removal

ok so am i just retarded or how do you take the spring off...............

does the thing that the screwdriver is touching in the pic just screw off or does it need to be pounded off? it doesen't look like either would work

Like a coil spring or valve spring? A coil spring has to be compressed and then you take the nut off the top and the mount comes right off.

throw it on the ground the spring should just pop off you have nothing connecting it

Yea just pull now and get new shocks too....those shock pistons should not be staying compressed like that.

no like i can slide the spring around.......I just cant get it off the end because the boot thing and the bumpstop or w.e are too big and it wont fit over.....

take the boot thing or the bumpstop thing off first. If it will not come off pry it off, either way the strut should be replaced. Everything should slide off.

Yes like Silva said you need to remove the bumpstop and that big washer. It's most likely rusted on so soak it in PBblaster.

but normally the whole assembly should just come apart when the 17mm bolt on the very top is removed?
