Porting question

Hey,


I have a 14b I plan on installing. I've read about porting to 7cm but is porting 02 housing and manifold mandatory if I port the 14b? If it is I guess I'll leave everything unported till I have access to a die grinder, but let me know.

You do not need to port all the rest of the stuff, But you would see better results if you did.

Thanks for the quick respone, I was worried about turbulence issues. Like installing a 1g tb onto the unported 2g intake manifold.

This is a good question and one I had when I was in you're situation. If you have the opportunity to port your turbo, o2 housing and manifold you should.

Heres an Idea of the difference between a stock manifold and turbo housing size and a 7cm^2 gasket.

Silver is the 7cm^2

If you are going to port anything just make sure you match the flow up. ie. match the sizes of everything. Dont port the exhaust manifold and leave the turbo stock as it will cause turbulence and hurt performance.

If you cant port anything now don't worry. ideally would would match it all at the same time.

He could just put the turbine inlet though. I would not port the turbine outlet, And leave the o2 housing stock so the flow is running into a wall, Like you are speaking about!

Ok ok, so If I do decide to dremel the turbo inlet I'll be good leaving the manifold alone? That's what I'm trying to pinpoint. Because if not then there's no use porting at all until I have the right tools.

Yes if you port the turbo you will be alright to leave the manifold alone. Although I would recommend doing it all at once.

It's not gonna hurt having the turbo ported and you might see some benefits (faster spool). You should porth the collector on the manifold as well though. You can leave the runners alond but porting the collector and the turbine housing will make a noticable difference

I would recommend porting the manifold even if you have to use a dremel, like I did. It took like 2 hours but was well worth it.
