Again with the newbie priviliges and yes, I've searched.

Does anybody have any experince with this kit? How'd the install go? Results? Happy with it?

I'm currently pricing out a complete performance suspension overhaul (Koni yellows, DSS coil kit, all bushings, rsb, strut bars, rear toe elim... camber kit), and I noticed GC makes these for our cars. They offer what I'm looking for on my DD/race car, where I can adjust them on-site to negative and put them back so i don't destroy my tires.

TIA :)

just an FYI, the DSS coilovers are not in production anymore. They make start up again, but as of now you cannot purchase them.

Yes, but their site has been inactive for quite some time. Which also sucks for your rear toe elim plans. Talk to underradar about the rear toe elim as I believe he has the CAD drawings of the aluminum parts you would need to have made.

I would suggest talking to RRE about their camber plates. The other, much more expensive option, would be to use a full coilover and their own proprietary camber plate, such as the HotBits "race" setup.

I'm not sure how famliar you are with suspension on these cars, (you seem like you know what's going on) but if you have any questions I've put together a fairly large amount of info on the 1g suspension. I haven't had time to write something up formally as a FAQ or anything, but if you have any questions PM me or post them here.

Ah, that explains things LOL. I was actually just going to see about welding the active toe in shut, so it doesn't move; I read that somewhere on here.

I'll send you a pm, thanks!

The cause of the rear active toe on a 1G is a rear control arm half made of rubber.. not really a simple weldable pivot from what I've seen. If you're going to weld it, just make sure the toe is set where you want it from then on.

Also, Megan Racing makes a set of coilovers for the 1G with an integrated camber/caster plate.

The problem with adding camber on-site is that with the geometry change, you'll add negative toe at the same time.. you'll just screw up the tires without improving the grip that much. It's because the steering rack is behind the pivot for the front struts. If it was in front, you'd add both camber and positive toe, and really get it to grab.

You'd essentially have to set your camber, fix your toe, go have fun with a ghetto-rigged alignment, and then try to put it back the way it was when you were ready to go home.
Generally, so long as you don't go ridiculously high with the camber, you should be fine daily driving on it, and still not screw the tires. It's bad toe that tends to be the main culprit in killing tread and shoulderblocks, usually in conjunction with mis-inflated tires.
