Hey guys i was driving on the highway today when i heard a loud spark sound and then noticed smoke coming from where the stereo is. My question is, is there anything around the stereo area that could have done that, that isnt part of the stereo? Like any part of the ECU or anything? The car drives the same and the stereo and all speakers work so its just wierd. I havent looked in there yet but i will tomorrow when i dont have work. I just want to know that it is just my stereo and not my car cause i am freaking out, i have a 10 mile drive home and dont want to end up walking.

Check for exposed wires behind the radio - if there are any, cover them up with heat shrink or electrical tape. A power wire might have accidentally come in contact with a grounding point. Also, check the wires running into the ecu and take out the ecu and open it up to see if everything looks normal inside of it.

Is the ECU in that section on a 420a N/A? Isnt it in the engine compartment? If not then what is that huge computer looking thing with a billion wires going into it on the drivers side of the engine bay?
