Ok so about a week ago, I logged my new 91 gsx and I was getting about 32 counts of knock in second. So, after checking out my log, I set the timing from 24 base BACK to 5 degrees.

Anyways, as soon as I fixed it my logger stopped working and eventually after taking it apart and realizing my soldering iron is in another EFFING COUNTRY, i just left it broke. Then I drove the car a little bit to discover the car was still knocking(by ear).

Then after checking out that my knock sensor was gutted all over my block. I pulled out my OTHER OTHER spare and threw it in.

After letting her warm back up, I took her up and down the street and boosted her through 1st and about 2/3rds through 2nd. I STILL heard knock. After another pull back UP the street, I heard it go away. It still pulled hard IF NOT HARDER. It honestly felt REALLY good.

Now, I know i'm no human logger. I know I still need to log it to make sure it's all gone but i'm still curious how it fixed it, er so I think it did.

Does the engine advance timing all the way until knock and then adjust or what? I'm sure the engine needed some time to realize it was knocking and time to correct it. The sensor was pretty gone...like i'm pretty sure its the original one with 140k...could be wrong.
Basically my question is, my knock went away and my car felt STRONGER just from the sensor...WHY? Anyways, can someone shed some light on this?

As soon as I get my new cable i'll post some logs but it might be a few days...

Also, if it DIDN'T fix the knock, whats my next issue to solve?

When you get knock your timing gets pulled, very much so if your knock is high enough. Now that you don't have as much knock, your timing is advancing normally and your not losing any power. Log it whenever you can to see if your still getting knock.
