Ok so when i start my car it sounds like a belt has water on it. the sounnd lasts for about 7 to 8 seconds, then stops. but then i accelerate on the sound happens again for about 2 seconds. the funny parts is it makes the sound randomly, but it is getting worse and worse. the sound also happens when i downshift. any help would be great.:talon:

Im sort of having the same problem, and from what ive read it seems it may be crank pulley / harmonic balancer.

tighten all your pulleys. Take each belt off and check for cracks by bending it. It its got cracks replace it.
If after new belts it still squeels on start up, rub some sand paper on each pulley to rid the rubber film coating it.
If you still get a sqeek from that area thats not related to RPM then you have a squeeky pulley.

If its opposite the side of the pulleys then its most likely the Throw Out Bearing...

I had the same problem it was my Serpentine belt i tightend it but it eventually snapped on me so i got a new one. It always happend on start up when car was cold and when i turned on my lights. But when i got a new belt and tightend every thing on the serpentine assembly it ran perfect. Check if your Serpentine belt is chewed up loose or cracking and if so change it cause if not you will lose power steering and kill you battery because alternator will shut off and car will indefinately over heat!!

I would also like to add to use some really fine sand paper, to rough and you will sctrach and leave bad impressions in the pully.

thank you very much for all this imput. i am gonna try to tighten down all my belts tonight. if that doesnt work then i am gonna get a new belt and start there.
