I just threw a new 6 bolt in a 2g that already had a 6bolt in it and i turned the key and the starter wont turn WTF so i did the all basics, but i need to know if you have to have the manual t. in neutral to start it, or can I just have the clutch in? cause i didnt hook up the shifter cabels yet and it could be in gear.

no you dont need to have it in neutral. you should be able to start the car in any gear as long as the clutch is depressed. maybe you should check the button at the bottom of the clutch pedal which tells the ecu that the clutch is pressed in and allows the starter to start. goodluck.

yea check your clutch to make sure that it is engaging and another simple thing that gets me all the time, make sure you have all your grounds connected good luck

you can also have the key turned like your starting the car and push down the clutch to see if you hear a click and if you do then the clutch is engaging. If you hear nothing then i would do battery, ecu, and a starter check!

The switch they re talking about would be the clutch or neutral safety switch under the clutch pedal. If can unplug that so you do not even have to push the clutch in to start the car, but make sure its in neutral.

I would check the starter terminals,I belive there is two smaller terminals called the R and S terminals which triggers the starter and the power terminal.... make sure they are hooked up right and make sure the battery has a good ground. Also make sure the power cable to the starter is tight and clean, there may be some corrosion interferring there but i doubt it. But mainly make sure you have a good ground.

I doubt the starter is bad, its a new 6 bolt right? so all new parts? if the starter was bad it clicks.
Hopefully that helps:thumb:

thanks Joe, I just did some tests and I got power to the relay, and the relay works, but I checked and the relay is normaly closed relay (NC) when you give it power it opens??? so its working but i dont know how you open a circuit and have power flow through it to the starter??? any help?

Take your starter to advance auto or what ever maintenance parts auto parts store that may have a machine to test the starter.

Your starter might have corrosion on the armature.

Does it make a loud click ? If yes take a hammer bang it on the large round portion of the starter ( dont hit it hard ) and try to crank it.
