St. Catharines,
Greetings! I am going to replace my clutch during the engine rebuild and am wondering what a stock 1g flywheel weighs in at? There are the "e-bay" kits, some with a flywheel, and they state that the flywheel weighs 11.0-11.5 lbs. Is this an upgrade, is it even worth it, or is this just a waste? Should I just get a clutch and keep the stock flywheel?

Thanks for the help!

Chris.

A flywheel that has less weight will have less drive train loss since the motor is not working as hard to turn the wheel. You will also have increased tq and hp to the wheels. the stock flywheel weighs between 18 and 20lbs. Its not light so decreasing the mass would help you a good amont.

Its like putting a carbon fiber hood on a car that has a hood that weighs 200lbs. This is way over exagrated but same idea.

Thanks, I had no idea that the stock flywheel was that heavy!

Has anyone ever had an "e-bay" clutch and flywheel kit? The "XTR" and the "XTD" seem to be the cheap alternative with a flywheel. My goal is not too crazy, at around
325-350hp these "sound" like they would work.

I don't know about the flywheels but on ebay, What are they made of? If its steel like the one from rre than it might not be to bad but if its the alluminum I might be slightly concerned.

They say that they are billet chromoly steel. These are the two kits that I am looking at. What do you think?
