ok so heres the deal, i'm boring .020over,new eagle/manley rods, ross pistons, some 264/272cams, fmic, big16g, fuel upgrades obviously, and probably dsmlink....

Now the question is, if i'm runing dsm link, what do i , and dont i need, meaning, would i be wasting money on a gm maf and stuff like that. just curious dont want to buy little bolt ons if they arent gonna be worth it, also if there is anything else you suggest i get please feel free to fill me in
thanks, :dsm:

DSMLink is practically everything you need tuning wise. A MAF-T would supplement DSMLink allowing you to run an atomospheric dump BOV. Also, for additional saftey tuning wise, dsmlink can be hooked up to a number of wideband o2 sensors, allowing you to tune more accurately and safely, I suggest that you also pick up a wideband to be on the safe side unless you're going to have a shop with a wideband o2 do your tuning. then you can just get a EGT gauge while your cruising to make sure everyhting is copasetic

You also have to have a Eprom ECU. You dont really need anything else but if you'd like to vent you'll need a Maf-T setup as well.

If you only ever plan to run a 16g, I would save the money and just replace the internals with stock components. If there are plans for larger, then leave it as is. As stated, you'll need an EPROM ecu if you don't already have one, and a laptop obviously. Everything else comes with it. A wideband would help to tune easier and better also.

Just run a 2g mas with dsmlink and you will be fine without the maf-t. With the build you are doing I would go with 272/272 cams since you will most likely run a larger turbo, maybe even some upgraded springs/retainers and stainless valves. If the 16g is all you want than I would go with stock internals like dream on said. Just some suggestions.

i would like to eventually upgrade to a bigger turbo, and create more boost thats why i'm going with aftermarket pistons ,rods, etc, but need to do some head work before i turn up the boost with a bigger turbo, which isnt in the budget right now.... as for dsm link, i know its worth it and all but should i just go with an safc for now, or will that not tune enough... i plan on taking it to a near by shop (ie: turbotrix.) to have it tuned but who knows when..
unless some one knows of a diff shop
thanks

As for if DSMLink is worth it...yes. It is much better than an S-AFC (which will only work well with injectors up to 660's or so...and depending on how big of a turbo you plan on running in the future, 660's probably won't be big enough) because it many more options when it comes to tuning and is also a logger, which is very helpful. If you're going to be putting all of this money into a fully built engine and bigger turbo, why not go with DSMLink? Do it right the first time. Yes, it'll be a bit more than an S-AFC because you'll also have to get a laptop and EPROM ECU, but will be worth it in the end. The website for DSMLink is www.dsmlink.com - go and read about all of the features and capabilities it has and you'll definitly think it's better than the S-AFC.

If you want DSMLink in the end, why buy the SAFC? Buy what you want the first time so you don't waste money. You won't regret getting the link either, it's really great, and so is the user support.
